North Wales Five Regions

North Wales can best be understood through its Five Regions of Snowdonia, Llyn Peninsula, The Isle Of Anglesey, North Wales Coast and North East Wales And The Borderlands.

Snowdonia National ParkSnowdonia National Park - Five Regions

Described as ‘the most dramatic and alluring Five Regions in Wales’ and named as the ‘Adventure Capital Of the UK’ Snowdonia is an amazing location for all types of trips. Climbing and walking are big here, but you don’t have to be a budding Bear Grylls to enjoy Snowdonia. If you would rather, you can simply sit and soak up the scenery. Snowdon is Wales’ highest peak and the area where it sits has fair claim to being Wales’s most stunning, even being named the first of three designated national parks in Wales, back in 1951.

Llŷn Peninsula - Five RegionsLlŷn Peninsula

Highly popular in the summer, the Llyn Peninsula lays claim to being Wales most beautiful stretch of coast line and the area most blessed with numerous beautiful beaches. The official Area of Outstanding National Beauty which covers around 160 square kilometers – around a quarter of the peninsula –  includes sealife conservation areas, shipwrecks, and the Site of Special Scientific Interest on Enlli island. From the grand scale beaches that are internationally known to small sandy enclaves reachable only by the inquisitive and adventurous, the Llyn Peninsula has it all.

The Isle Of AngleseThe Isle Of Anglesey - Five Regionsy

With an area of just 275 square miles – actually the largest of Wales’ islands – Anglesey manages to squeeze a lot in! Award-winning beaches, ancient sites like Bryn Celli Du as well as more recent sites like Plas Newydd on the banks of the Menai Strait. If you’re feeling up to a very long walk, the Anglesey Coastal Path stretches 200km around the island, taking twelve days to complete and going through twenty towns and villages around the Five Regions. We’ve got some great landscapes and some delicious home produced food, come and try it. Those that have, need not be told. They just return…

The Isle Of Anglesey - Five RegionsConwy & Llandudno

The rest of the North West Coast line has plenty to offer. Llandudno is a thriving hub of activity which has been a regal seaside resort for over 100 years and, in Colwyn Bay, the intimidating Conwy Castle stands. It is a long and diverse region of North Wales full of hidden gems, with many beaches, quaint villages and activities to do along the way. Why not try the UK’s only remaining cable-hauled Tramway, taking you to the top of the Great Orme from which you can see – on a clear day – the Isle of Man and the Lake District!

North East Wales And The Borderlands

The Boarderlands - Five RegionsThe North East Wales interior has plenty to offer, with historic towns like Ruthin and Corwen, hilly retreats like Llangollen, rural get aways like Denbigh and the dangerously-close-to-England sort of places like Mold. Stunning scenery abounds throughout North East Wales and The Borderlands,  from Offa’s Dyke Path, which climbs 1,800 feet through the dramatic Clwydian Range, to the Ceiriog Valley. Enjoy a taste of heaven at nearby Llangollen where the annual food festival is the biggest in North Wales.
