Llandudno & Colwyn Bay llandudnoLlandudno is the jewel of the North Wales Coast, it’s largest seaside town. Sitting on a beautiful flat peninsula, surrounded by long sandy beaches; the town sits at the foot of two towering hills, known locally as the Great Orme and the Little Orme. Keen hikers can choose to take the long winding paths up these domineering peaks, whereas kids and the less adventurous can opt for the tram which takes roughly twenty minutes and crawls up the same road at a sedate pace. From the top of the Great Orme you can admire Llandudno in all its glory. Do one better, and grab a gelato from the charming Looking Glass Ice Cream Parlour, for the walk.

Faded Victorian grandeur combines with a charming seaside appeal to make Llandudno a real must see. Besides the usual trappings of a decent size pier and arcades, the town’s real boon is its impressive promenade which lines the front of the beach. Grand sun bleached hotels and guest houses stand sentry in front of the sea, providing no frills accommodation with a view. Just back from the shoreline and a little further into town lies the Mostyn Cymru, one of Wales’ finest art venues. The original galleries, built in 1901, come complete with a golden spire, an unmissable landmark that will sign post your arrival. Once inside, the gorgeous 20th century décor (artfully stripped back to appeal to modern tastes) makes for a stunning setting for the various modern art exhibitions they have on rotation.

The promenade stretches out for over 2 miles, with a cycle track running adjacent, giving you the option of traversal. Continue your ride through the town centre and into Eirias Park, where regular music concerts are held and you can engage in skateboarding and bowls.
